Finding the right foundation is kind of like finding the right man; there’s a lot of trial and error, a lot of heartbreak, and a lot of time wasted with the wrong ones. But when you meet your match, you want to cherish it and never let it go. Just like men, there are many foundations to choose from so it’s almost impossible to know where to start, and there are a lot of empty promises. But there are some good ones out there, I promise (both foundation AND men)!
One of the most popular foundations that I know many are a huge fan of is the MakeUp Forever HD foundations. It’s ranked high on many beauty bloggers’ lists and it’s easy to see why. There are seemingly endless amounts of shades, it’s strong against even the worst, most unflattering lighting, and it’s so soft on the skin no matter how much you build it up. Also, because many of us beauty bloggers are constantly posting Instagram selfies and close up videos, this foundation is fabulous for how it appears on camera; smooth, flawless, and not oily at all.So now MakeUp Forever has come out with a new foundation called the MakeUp Forever Ultra HD Foundation, priced at $43. It’s the first foundation that’s meant to be used for 4K technology; essentially it’s the newest technology in makeup. MakeUp Forever is the first company to create the first HD foundation; nonetheless the Ultra HD Foundation. Similar to the HD, Ultra HD foundation photographs very well and is good for all skin types. This foundation is a great alternative to airbrushing or caking on the layers of foundation trying to achieve that photoshopped look. It’s specially formulated to stay virtually invisible under the most sophisticated camera lenses. While this is amazing news for those who work in television, film, or on YouTube, it’s not just limited to professionals who always need to be camera ready. You can say goodbye to those harsh Instagram filters and photo editing apps, as the latest technology on your cell phone and IPods won’t stand up to the coverage.MakeUp Forever also expanded the amount of shades they usually offer, so there’s enough of a variety that finding your perfect match shouldn’t be difficult. The foundation numbers have changed, so be wary of which shade number you are. Thankfully, there’s a handy little tool on Sephora’s website that will help you figure out which shade you’ll want if you’ve already been using the HD foundation. But it’s worth it to take a trip to Sephora and try it out before grabbing your usual color. The foundation colors/shades are the same as the HD ones, but the formulation is different. It’s still highly pigmented, so a little bit goes a long way. There are 40 shades in total and most are warm, yellow-toned. My shade is Y405, which is the old 153.
Because you don’t need to use a lot of the foundation to get the kind of coverage you might want, keep in mind that while you may feel the price tag is a bit high, it’s basically paying for itself with how well it works and how long it lasts.
I’d love to know if you guys have tried MakeUp Forever’s foundations and what you think? Hope you found this review helpful and if you’d like to stay up to date with other reviews, be sure to subscribe to my blog here.
