I just received the new Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette along with their 2015 Holiday lineup, which includes a deeper, luminous color range perfect for transitioning into cooler weather. I thought I would review the new Vice 4 Palette, since a lot of you requested this on my last makeup tutorial, but before I get into the review, let’s chat a bit about the entire Urban Decay 2015 Holiday lineup. The collection consists of a few different palettes with a wide range of pigments to choose from, and some liners to complete the look. The 24/7 Glide On liners are beautiful as usual; I love them because they feel soft while you’re applying them but the color is strong and highly pigmented. There are some different colors to choose from, but they all go on dark so you are getting that sharp line that you want out of a liner. That means you can accent your eyes with green or blue and come out with a striking look! The highlighter works well if you use a damp brush, but if you don’t I don’t find that you necessarily get enough pigment to stick to your skin. The Spectrum palette features a range of deep, jewel tones and natural pigments that coincide with the colors of the season; gorgeous purples and brilliant greens. At first glance, it seems that the first two palettes are very similar in color selection, but once you actually swatch them, you’ll notice that they are a little bit different.

Now the Vice 4 Palette… this palette was just so amazing that I had to film a Fall Makeup Tutorial showing you how stunning all of the colors are. It’s really no surprise that the pigments are fantastic in this palette; Urban Decay almost never disappoints in the strength of their pigments. With this palette, you are getting an exclusive and limited-edition collection of colors that you have never seen before! Unlike the Vice 2 and 3 Palettes, the packaging is less bulky and the lid doesn’t fold all the way back as the previous one did. You’re definitely getting something new with this Vice 4 palette as opposed to the first two, as the colors are brighter and more fun. I look at the palette and I see a bundle of jewels and richness, which is no surprise; Urban Decay was inspired by the colors of an oil slick, which inspired one of their vintage shades of that namesake. The Vice 4 Palette also gives you options in terms of finishes, with both matte and shimmer shadows to choose from. You can definitely mix these two together with creative combos, or just stick to mattes in the day and shimmers at night. Regardless, this is the perfect palette for you if you like including bright colors into your makeup routine. It does have a good balance of natural colors as well, which are always good to have in a palette. At first glance, I thought the new Vice 4 Palette was very similar to Vice 2, but once I put them side by side, I realized that the new palette is much brighter than Vice 2.
The Vice 4 palette comes with a synthetic double-ended brush not photographed below, but I personally don’t like using synthetic brushes, so I opt for a fluffy brush to make blending easy. You also don’t have to worry about the shadow falling as you apply it. The Vice Palette maintains the quality of color and product that you’re used to with Urban Decay shadows, as they truly took great care in developing the concept and the end result.
For a visual on how much of a range this palette provides, don’t forget to see what I came up with in my tutorial!
Overall I think the Vice 4 palette is a great addition to my makeup collection even though I’m not one to use too much color on my eyes.
