I’ve had short hair for quite awhile now, and I’m going to be honest, I didn’t really like it in the beginning. But now that I know how to style and maintain it, I’ve grown to love my locks! Recently, my friend chopped her hair to a shorter length too, so I thought it’d be a great idea to feature her in today’s post! I’ll show you guys that styling short hair is quick and easy, as well as give you pointers on how to make your ‘do look fabulous.
On that note – I have partnered with Unilever to help with Angie’s hair, and came across these amazing hair products from the newest collaboration between Toni & Guy and Sophia Webster carried at Target. For those of you that don’t know, Sophia Webster is a shoe designer. I’m a huge fan of her shoes, so you can only imagine how excited I got when I found out about this collaboration. I absolutely love the packaging with their pops of colors, and their hair products works great. I used them on my own hair, and it works wonders. Enough about me, meet my lovely friend Angie! This tutorial is for everyone with any types of hair. But to give you an idea about Angie, she has fine hair and it has been color-treated.
STEP 1: Before I started styling, she washed her hair with the Toni & Guy shampoo and conditioner set. These ones are specifically for fine hair, as it says on the bottle. Using them will add much-needed volume and body for those with flat hair; it also makes styling short hair easier.
STEP 2: Make sure your hair is completely dried before moving on to this next step. Feel free to use a blow dryer to dry your hair quicker if air-drying takes too long.
STEP 3: Spritz a bit of the Toni & Guy 3D Volumiser spray into the hair. This gives you a boost of shine as well as volume (obviously!).
STEP 4: Use a dryer and a round bristle brush to create even more volume throughout your hair.
STEP 5: You can stop at STEP 4 for a more natural finish, but I wanted to continue and give Angie some curls. Get your curling wand and grab a strand of hair about an inch wide. Carefully wrap it around the wand (away from the face) and hold it for a couple seconds. Then slowly release the hair and there’s your curl; do the same thing all around your head.
STEP 6: Once you’re happy with your curls, put a dime-size amount of the Volume Plumping Whip and rub it between your hands. Tame any fly-aways on the top of your head, as well as the ends of the curls.
And there you have it, a simple style for short hair girls like Angie and me! This hairdo is great for a girls’ night out or even a family gathering. We actually went to an event right after I did her hair, and she was getting compliments left and right.
