A few weeks ago, my friend Angie asked me to help decorate for her baby shower in Hollywood. I was so excited to help; we did a lot of D.I.Y’s and crafting, and if you guys saw my Snapchat (Simply_Sona), you guys saw all the cute things we made! Most importantly guys, I was in charge of making the main flower arrangements. You guys know how much I love having flowers in my apartment! It brightens up the mood and smells so good. So why not share my secret? It’s a fun activity to do with your girlfriends, moms, daughters, so grab some scissors and flowers to get started!
1. Angie, and I went to the Downtown Los Angeles Flower Mart to buy all our flowers. You can always find flowers at local supermarkets, like Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. My favorites are peonies and mini roses, but feel free to buy any flowers that you like. I’d also suggest buying filler flowers or pretty greens, since it helps create a bigger bouquet without using too much of the main flowers. 2. Place a few flowers in the vase of your choice, and measure out where you should cut it. Once you figure out the length, grab a pair of scissors and cut at desired length. Do that for the rest of your flowers, but once in a while, place it in the vase to see where it stands. 3. Once you cut enough flowers and place it in the vase, take the entire bouquet and flip it upside down on a table. Then you figure out which flowers are longer than the other ones; go ahead and snip the ends.
5. Put the bouquet back in the vase, and move the flowers around until you’re happy with how they look. This part can take some time, but make sure you take a step back so you can look at the whole thing. Once you’re done, put some water in the vase and you’re finish! Now you have a beautiful arrangement for your house, or to give as a gift!
I’d love to see your D.I.Y flower arrangements, so make sure you post a comment with your tips or tag me in your photos.
