So this has been a hot topic for my Snapchat Fam (if you’re not part of it, follow me: Simply_Sona) where I get a lot of inspiration for YouTube video ideas. You guys wanted to know my 9 must have makeup brushes that every girl needs, which I filmed over on my YouTube channel but I also wanted to give you a rundown on the blog. As you’ll notice while reading, many of my must have brushes are from Sigma – so for you to get these exact brushes, you can use my discount code SIMPLYSONA to receive 10% off! Make sure you also watch the YouTube video to see me use each brush and what I would recommend it for.
Foundation Brush – it Cosmetics #7
I think every girl needs a great foundation brush to make sure she’s blending her foundation as seamlessly as possible. I like to have my foundation photo ready, so I like the Sigma F80 brush to blend in heavy foundation. If you only use foundation for light to medium coverage, I would recommend the IT cosmetics double ended brush #7 which I like for everyday use.
Highlight Brush – Sigma F35
This is an absolute must-have brush for every girl because it’s a great tapered brush that has so many uses. I like to set my under eye foundation in place, and for getting into small spaces like my cupid’s bow, and nose, and I love using this brush for highlighting, it always give off a very strong finish.
Contour Brush – Sigma F05
If you love contouring, this is a must have brush because it’s a dense but tapered brush that has short bristles to target the hollows of your cheeks. It blends in your darker colors very well and is essential for powder contouring.
Blush Brush – Bare Minerals Dual Finish Blush & Contour and E.L.F Cosmetics Blush Brush
I like the Bare Minerals brush for applying blush on the apples of my cheeks to get concentrated placement, and the E.L.F brush has almost the exact same effect. You’ll be happy with either brush, but I don’t recommend them for contouring as it’s a very subtle effect that you’ll get.
Eye Blending Brush – Sigma E25 or Smith 232
Girls, you definitely need this for expert eyeshadow so it’s by far one of my must-haves. Use this tapered brush for great blending of colors, like transitional colors. I have also used it for those things, and for making a strong crease or even for concealer.
Fluffy Eye Blending Brush – Sigma E40
To make your eyeshadow look professional and more blended, this is a must-have brush to get rid of those harsh edges. Take this brush a few times along your eyes after you’ve applied your eyeshadow to smooth everything out.
Eye Highlighting Brush – Sigma E60
You definitely want a nice flat brush to get some highlighter into the inner corner of your eyes and your browbone. It’s also a great brush for pressing color into your eyelid to really take advantage of the pigments and strong colors in your powders.
Eyeliner Brush – Sigma E68
For cream and gel liners, I love this Sigma brush because it’s flat but so big and makes cat eyes super easy. You can still get right into that lashline accurately but can do it so much faster. Obviously, you can skip this brush if you use a pencil or an automatic liner.
Pencil Brush – Sigma E34
Lastly, I like the pencil brush to add color to my lower lashline to really bring together my eyeshadow looks. There are so many uses for this brush though, like achieving a cut crease or smoking out your eyes for a night out.
I hope you enjoyed my 9 must have brushes every girl needs to help you round out your makeup bag. Be sure to go to my YouTube and subscribe and find the video that shows you how I use all these brushes. Let me know if there are any makeup brushes that you think are must haves that I didn’t include!
