One of my favorite things to do is get dressed up, do my makeup, and head out to a fabulous restaurant with KB and some friends to enjoy delicious food together! LA is a huge city with so many different neighborhoods, each with their own set of fabulous restaurants. Whether you live in LA or are visiting for the first time, I know it can be overwhelming to decide where to dine, especially if you’re hangry, so today I want to share with you my list of best restaurants in LA to grab dinner.
Gusto – Italian
This delish Italian-inspired spot is in West Hollywood, and has won awards for their cool twist on classic Italian favorites we all know and love. The wine list is to die for, just like their desserts. This is the place to get a little dressed up for, as they have a smart casual look going on, and it’s best to call for reservations to make sure you get a table quickly and lastly the coconut creme pie is to die for!
Animal – New American
The atmosphere may feel casual and easygoing, but Animal does the most inventive things with flavor combinations and ingredients that makes every bite feel like a new experience. They use ingredients from local farms too, which I love because they are supporting their community. They have a twist if Hawaiian in some dishes like the Loco Moco if you’re after a really rich dish. My personal favorite was the Hamachi Ceviche and the street corn! You can book reservations online too.
Cassia – Vietnamese
This little gem is in Santa Monica, and I love all of the fresh vibrant food this restaurant makes. If you love asian fusion then this is a place you want to head to for sure. You can go for lunch or dinner and you can also make reservations or order food to go. The atmosphere is so lovely here and makes for a great dinner out with friends or even date night! It kind of reminds me of a hip french brasserie! Make sure to try the lamb dish because it was amazing and on the spicy side too!
Milo and Olive – Pizzeria and Bakery
Where do I start?! This place has easily become our favorite go to dinner restaurant in LA and you might even find me here on a Friday night! If you love indulging in wood fire pizza then you’ll want to try this restaurant in Santa Monica. The food is just as comforting as the feel of the restaurant. This place might be known for its amazing pizza but you cannot go wrong with the salads and the incredible pasta dishes! Lastly don’t forget to save room for dessert! Soo good!
Bestia – Italian & Cocktail Bar
Bestia is a place to check out if you’re venturing into downtown L.A and you’re craving some flavorful pizzas or some shared plates. There’s a very chill vibe to this place that I think makes it amazing to go to with some friends for a relaxing night out. Even if you just want a couple of cocktails, it’s worth heading to Bestia for their crafty creations. I must warn you that you will need reservation far out in advance as tables are booked consistently!
Quarters Korean BBQ – Korean
You have to go and try this place! It’s my favorite Korean BBQ restaurant in LA. I really enjoy the modern atmosphere because it’s a nice little combo of the trendiness of LA with the tradition of Korean BBQ. If you’re adventurous and want to try Korean delicacies, tapas style, I recommend Quarters! Just a side note – this place is not all-you-can eat as typical to most KBBQ restaurants in LA but thats okay because the quality is higher!
KazuNori Sushi – Japanese Hand Roll Bar
KazuNori is the first sushi restaurant of its kind because they only serve sushi hand rolls. The owners are are the geniuses behind famed sushi restaurant Sugar Fish, which I also recommend. This restaurant has so many delicious hand roll options which are made to order so everything you eat is super fresh. The hand rolls are made with their signature warm rice, the freshest fish and lots of homemade sauces. If sushi is your thing, you have to try this hand roll bar
Yuzu – Sushi Bar
Nestled in the neighborhood of Toluca Lake is another sushi restaurant I really enjoy. They have some really delicious rolls, and their namesake Yuza roll is an absolute favorite of mine! It’s a small little place, so you may want to head there a little on the early side so you can get a spot at the bar or a table for friends!
The Izaka- Ya – Japanese
When you’re in West Hollywood, I suggest you go here for some yummy fish and Japanese food. The restaurant is owner by Chef Katsuya Uechi who is 1 of 4 master sushi chefs in LA! There is so much variety in their menu that I think you could get a group of picky eaters together and they’d be sure to find something they enjoy. This place is very popular so call ahead to make a reservation.
Little Sister – Vietnamese
So you may see a little trend here; I love Asian food! And I love Little Sister for its great interpretation of Asian cuisine in downtown L.A. This is a great restaurant for groups because they offer family style portions which I love because it’s fun to share and try new dishes with friends. The food is plated so beautifully and the restaurant has such a cool vibe even playing some 90’s Hip Hop (KB’s favorite part of the restaurant) that you’ll want to keep coming back until you’ve tried everything on the menu! Every time I go, I make sure to order the spring rolls.
As you can tell, I love to dine out with friends so please share some of your favorite spots with me in the comments below. I hope this post helps my LA readers and even those visiting LA looking for some great dinning out options! Of course there are many more great restaurants out there so feel free to share below and I will let you know if we end up trying some out!
