As a California girl myself, I feel like we know a thing or two about summer style. Especially here in LA, where it’s clear and sunny for the majority of the year, summer style is something we have down to a science. When putting together outfits for the warmer months, it’s all about easy, simple silhouettes and effortless pairings. Each summer, I usually have a few go-to pieces that form the basis for most of my summer outfits, then I mix and match from there! This summer, it’s all about these five summer style essentials!
A light summer sundress is absolutely key to summer style! I like to choose a dress that I can easily dress up or down, like this one. From wandering a coastal city while on vacation to getting done up for a nicer event, I like a versatile dress that looks good no matter the occasion!
2. Denim Shorts
Is there anything better than finally putting on a pair of denim shorts after months of wearing pants? I like a relaxed cutoff silhouette that looks slightly undone (but never sloppy.) One of the best parts of getting a good pair of denim shorts is that they look better with wear and age!
Sunglasses can completely change up your look! Even when I’m wearing a casual outfit, I feel like a cool pair of sunglasses ties together my look. I’m still loving the round sunglasses trend (I wear these sunglasses all the time) but I also really like some of the newer styles that I’ve seen recently as well!
4. Straw Bag
Perfect for going from the beach (or at least looking like you were at the beach!) to running errands and beyond! I’ve seen straw bags everywhere this season and I love the idea of using one as a summer carryall. A good straw bag will always look chic and effortless, plus the “I just got back from the French Riviera” vibes don’t hurt!
5. Off the Shoulder Top
I love that this trend is still around! Pairing an off the shoulder top with denim shorts and some espadrilles or slides is such an easy, on trend summer look! I still have this one from last year (you may have seen it here) that I’ll pull out again for summer. I also love some of the more recent iterations of this look, like the one shoulder silhouette, that I might have to add to my summer wardrobe!
P.S. You can find shoes (under $100!) to go with these summer style essentials here! What’s summer trend are you most excited about?
