I cannot believe it’s going to be Mother’s Day this weekend! Not going to lie, I was totally stumped on what to get my mom this year. I’m so lucky to live close to my mom in LA and definitely see her at least once a week. But come Mother’s Day, I like to make her feel extra special with some mother-daughter time. In the past we’ve done things like a spa day and a shopping day, which were both so fun.
This year, I finally came up with the perfect idea. You guys may know my mom is a hair stylist, and after years of her doing my hair, I decided to return the favor and treat my mom to a glam day complete with hair by yours truly! I loved this idea because it was super easy, fun and it made my mom SO HAPPY! Keep on reading for everything you need to give your mom the ultimate gift of glam this Mother’s Day!
My mom has the cutest shoulder length hair cut, so I picked a few products that would work perfectly for her hair. First things first, I got some Conair essentials from Target including the Infiniti Pro Hot Air Brush and the 2-in-1 Styler (ps. I surprised my mom by giving her all these products after our day of glam!)
I had my mom come over with clean, air dried hair. After her hair was almost all dry, I used the Hot Air Brush, which is a rotating hair styler that dries and curls the hair at the same time. It was so easy to use compared to traditional blow drying with a round brush!
After a quick blowout I used the 2-in-1 Styler to add soft, voluminous curls. This styler is both a straightener AND a curler in one. It has rounded sides and silicone tips you can add to the ends of the iron to easily curl your hair without burning your fingers. To get loose curls using this iron, grab a two-inch piece of hair and clamp it. Quickly twist the iron until the rest of the hair flips back around and continue the straightener motion. Alternate curls towards the face and away from the face to give the hair a more natural, wavy look.
Seriously, how cute is my mom!? The final hair look came out beautiful and it was sooo easy. Doing my moms hair was a blast and it reminded me how much I loved when she would do my hair growing up.
