I loved the chart that goes along with the blog post it is so helpful and pretty! I was wondering what mid price range lip liners and lipsticks or glosses you would recommend? #snapchatfam

    • ReplySonaJuly 18, 2016 at 8:36 am

yay! Happy you liked it. Bare Minerals just came out with some amazing lip liners. But if you’re looking for something more affordable, check out NYX or L’OREAL.

One of the best videos I have seen.
      However – a suggestion. I am a 75
year old 5’10” blonde who had a modeling contract years ago. You
may be too young but there is a giant
need for videos for boomers and over.
I have my own interior design business
and believe me there are many of us out
there and we do not look like your
granny of old. Currently, charlotte Tilbury does a good job but she is
      selling a not inexpensive product.
      More recently model Cindy Joseph
      has a line and philosophy – ‘pro-age’
and while alot of us like the philosophy,
her products are almost too subtle for
many although I love how healthy they
are. See Boomsticks etc. And she is
also selling a product! I like the fact
that you are using multi products.
i have looked at alot of videos for
boomers, aging skin and the like and
have found them all fairly amateurish
and unsophisticated. I live and work
in a very affluent community and
believe since the older population is
growing rapidly and in my opinion,
needing serious help in the make up
      department the opportunity is huge.
Get in touch with me if you desire.

How I wish I were in my 20’s again but………I’m 70 and would like to see older models along with younger ones. We of middle edge and older have a life too! We like to wear make up or AT least I do. If I had enough money in my pocket I would publish a magazine for people 50-70’s We aren’t dead yet. We enjoy life and going out dancing just as much or maybe more. We appreciate life and want to enjoy as much as the youth of today. Give us a break!

One mistake I’ve been doing forever is using foundation powder to set my face. Now I believe that’s what’s been making it cakey this whole time lol. OK using translucent powder from now. Thanks for this tip. Great post. I love your tips.

Hey Sona! I liked the chart, I thought it was very informative. I wanted to ask you a question…what kind of moisturizer do you recommend for daily use? I have combo skin so I have an oily t-spot but my cheeks tend to get dry.

    • ReplySonaJuly 18, 2016 at 9:33 pm

I am in the process of working on a post recommending products for different skin types so stay tuned for that, but my favorite moisturizer is by Skin Ceuticals.

  • ReplyLaurenJuly 18, 2016 at 11:18 am

What was the brow pencil you used? TIA

    • ReplySonaJuly 18, 2016 at 9:34 pm

It’s by The Brow Gal and it’s #6.

  • ReplyFalisha CruzJuly 18, 2016 at 11:41 am

Yay!!! Love it sona Alot of great information… I know I have big pores around my cheek area how is the best way to hide them I’ve done everything to hide them but still look like the picture on the right…

    • ReplySonaJuly 18, 2016 at 9:37 pm

Try using a primer first. My favorite one is Porse No More by Dr. Brandt. Also avoid shimmers and try to use a setting powder to help blur the large pores.

Thank you for this…I find it so hard with my face shape on where to apply my blush and I end up either going to high I think or too low. Also the no shimmer on the crease…I’m so guilty of this..thanks Sona you are the best! #snapchatfam

  • ReplyGayaneJuly 18, 2016 at 12:55 pm

Hey Sona… Great tips but one thing I noticed was the Brows part here in the chart don’t match to what you said in the video. I think you meant lighter for the Brunettes. Only trying to help.. thank you!

  • ReplyLusine NaljayanJuly 18, 2016 at 12:56 pm

Great Video Sona, loved the tips and most of the women nowadays think that the left side is very attractive but on. The left side won 100%, thank for the tips!!! xoxo

  • ReplyCassieJuly 18, 2016 at 2:04 pm

So fun! Loved this!!! I especially loved seeing each side of the face of the do’s and don’ts it really helped envision the look of what’s wrong/right! Also, I am a dark brunette and in the video you said go 1-2 shades lighter for brows but the chart says darker, which one do you recommend and what are some good brands you like for eyebrow pencils? Thank you!! ?

  • ReplyNethuJuly 18, 2016 at 3:39 pm

    This is so helpful ?

  • ReplyJessicaJuly 18, 2016 at 3:46 pm

Hey Sona! Just wanted to let you know that on your “Do’s” side of the chart you have the tip of brunette hair girls to use a shade that is two shades DARKER than their hair rather then two shades LIGHTER. Great tips though! Now I’ll know how to better contour :)

  • ReplyShannonJuly 18, 2016 at 3:57 pm

    Sona & Co,

What products will work for dry skin that suddenly got textured on the forehead? Hello 30! Luminous or glowy foundation really shows off that glorious new texture/breakouts but more matte products cling to dry spots. I’m at a loss, I’ve tried everything I own with beauty blender. Kabuki Bruhes and even finger tips! Any suggestions?

    • ReplyShannonJuly 18, 2016 at 4:05 pm

      Brushes* ;)

      • ReplySonaJuly 18, 2016 at 9:51 pm

Do you exfoliate often? Try that or maybe even a microdermabrasion. This will help with the texture. As for makeup, I would recommend more full coverage foundations and setting it with a setting powder and not a compact foundation powder. Hope this helps.

  • ReplyLanaJuly 19, 2016 at 1:29 pm

This is really amazing! It is amazingly helpful, and I loved the chart that goes along.
I have a question though, but it’s regarding “skin care”, what would you recommend to use for a combination skin? Something that would be affordable/drug store, and helpful? Also,I was wondering how were the L’Oreal masks since you’ve tried them? #SnapFam

SONA! This is an amazing post and one of the reasons why you are my favorite beauty blogger- you share so much information and tips!!! So many just give opinions or show how-to’s which are great but I love to LEARN. I actually learned a few things I may have been doing wrong and will try them your way. I use a skinny brush for my crease and a fluffier brush for my lids however you did it opposite- I can’t wait to try that tomorrow morning! I love that you also have a list here, so helpful!! This is why you re so successful today, you share your knowledge. Some people are so scared to share information because it will make them irrelevant if they share all they have- instead its a sign of strength and integrity. anywayyyyy i love you and this post is amazing! my colleague who sits behind me feels like he knows you as well because of how often I watch your videos and look at your blog! haha #girlcrush #snapchatfam

  • Replypatty johnsonNovember 21, 2018 at 12:37 pm

You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about !!!! You say to moisturize before applying foundation??? NEVER apply moisturizer to oily skin – you’re just putting oil on top of oil!!! Duh…..
You say never apply foundation to bare skin????? I’ve been doing it for years and my skin is absolutely glorious !!
But here’s the biggie – and every makeup “expert” says the same thing – i.e. Curl eyelashes before putting on mascara – – – oh right, right… and how do you make fine hairs curl ? You DON”T. You should put on mascara FIRST, and THEN curl them, being careful to open the curler slowly before removing it from your lashes.
Why don’t you advice-givers know this? This is just basic stuff !!!

  • ReplyWren, an actual makeup artist who went to school for thisNovember 24, 2018 at 6:51 am

Half of this advice is terrible, what the heck. If I matched my foundation to my “over all body tone” (which is like six different colors because i saw the sun once so what does that even mean,) instead of my chest/neck, my face wouldn’t match my neck and there would be a CLEAR line of awfulness.
Not everyone needs a color corrector. I o ly color correct my redness around my nose, everywhere else my concealer covers.
2 shades darker than my brunette roots IS black.
The sharp defined line of liquid liner is the WHOLE POINT OF WEARING IT. If you go for a natural look, cool good for you, but natural liner has never helped me feel like I’m going to kill all men and consume their souls, so what’s the point of wearing it.
Overall, stick to giving yourself advice, because this is just not true.
