I loved the chart that goes along with the blog post it is so helpful and pretty! I was wondering what mid price range lip liners and lipsticks or glosses you would recommend? #snapchatfam
yay! Happy you liked it. Bare Minerals just came out with some amazing lip liners. But if you’re looking for something more affordable, check out NYX or L’OREAL.
One of the best videos I have seen.
However – a suggestion. I am a 75
year old 5’10” blonde who had a modeling contract years ago. You
may be too young but there is a giant
need for videos for boomers and over.
I have my own interior design business
and believe me there are many of us out
there and we do not look like your
granny of old. Currently, charlotte Tilbury does a good job but she is
selling a not inexpensive product.
More recently model Cindy Joseph
has a line and philosophy – ‘pro-age’
and while alot of us like the philosophy,
her products are almost too subtle for
many although I love how healthy they
are. See Boomsticks etc. And she is
also selling a product! I like the fact
that you are using multi products.
i have looked at alot of videos for
boomers, aging skin and the like and
have found them all fairly amateurish
and unsophisticated. I live and work
in a very affluent community and
believe since the older population is
growing rapidly and in my opinion,
needing serious help in the make up
department the opportunity is huge.
Get in touch with me if you desire.
Hello Carol,
My name is Liz. I am interested in being a model of a certain age.. I turned49 in December, but I am only 5’5″ and 115#.. I also live in the Midwest (Iowa). I wanted to send you a picture, but am not able to. I will change my profile and cover photos if you would like to see..Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time, have a great weekend!
Hello, I would like to see a more professional look videos for the mature woman. I am a medical provider that needs to look great but not 40… Thank you
How I wish I were in my 20’s again but………I’m 70 and would like to see older models along with younger ones. We of middle edge and older have a life too! We like to wear make up or AT least I do. If I had enough money in my pocket I would publish a magazine for people 50-70’s We aren’t dead yet. We enjoy life and going out dancing just as much or maybe more. We appreciate life and want to enjoy as much as the youth of today. Give us a break!
This Chart is so cool and helpful! Tbh I usually just watch your videos but after seeing the sneak peek on Snapchat I decide to check out your blog post! So cool !!

Yay!!
Hey there! Great tips that I think are super helpful! Thank you for taking time to throughly describe the do’s and
Don’ts. I was looking for a list of products you recommend based on skin type. You mentioned in your video it would be in your blogpost.
Thank you!
Hi Jenny, thanks so much! I’m happy you enjoyed the video. I’m sorry I didn’t list products based on skin types! I decided to work on a separate blogpost on that topic since there is so much to talk about. Stay tuned.
One mistake I’ve been doing forever is using foundation powder to set my face. Now I believe that’s what’s been making it cakey this whole time lol. OK using translucent powder from now. Thanks for this tip. Great post. I love your tips.
I love watching you on Snapchat! I think you’re so effortlessly chic and classy! You’re beautiful thanks for the tips ????
Great post! Great chart! Great video! I can’t say enough good things about everything you do! You are SIMPLY AMAZING! Love ya! ? #snapchatfam

Hey Sona! I liked the chart, I thought it was very informative. I wanted to ask you a question…what kind of moisturizer do you recommend for daily use? I have combo skin so I have an oily t-spot but my cheeks tend to get dry.
I am in the process of working on a post recommending products for different skin types so stay tuned for that, but my favorite moisturizer is by Skin Ceuticals.
What was the brow pencil you used? TIA
It’s by The Brow Gal and it’s #6.
Yay!!! Love it sona Alot of great information… I know I have big pores around my cheek area how is the best way to hide them I’ve done everything to hide them but still look like the picture on the right…
Try using a primer first. My favorite one is Porse No More by Dr. Brandt. Also avoid shimmers and try to use a setting powder to help blur the large pores.
Hi sona ..your blog is very informative very helpful as always.love to watch ur vedeoz.
Love these helpful tips you compile because all of them are valid & make so much sense! xx Adaleta Avdic
Thank you for this…I find it so hard with my face shape on where to apply my blush and I end up either going to high I think or too low. Also the no shimmer on the crease…I’m so guilty of this..thanks Sona you are the best! #snapchatfam
Hey Sona… Great tips but one thing I noticed was the Brows part here in the chart don’t match to what you said in the video. I think you meant lighter for the Brunettes. Only trying to help.. thank you!
Great Video Sona, loved the tips and most of the women nowadays think that the left side is very attractive but on. The left side won 100%, thank for the tips!!! xoxo
This video is the perfect guide for us. Loved the tips and most of the women nowadays think that the left side is very attractive but they are definitely wrong. The right side won 100%, thanks for the tips!!! xoxo :*
Loved your recommendations. Your blog posts are so detailed and informative. Love it! Great job!
So fun! Loved this!!! I especially loved seeing each side of the face of the do’s and don’ts it really helped envision the look of what’s wrong/right! Also, I am a dark brunette and in the video you said go 1-2 shades lighter for brows but the chart says darker, which one do you recommend and what are some good brands you like for eyebrow pencils? Thank you!! ?
This is so helpful ?
Hey Sona! Just wanted to let you know that on your “Do’s” side of the chart you have the tip of brunette hair girls to use a shade that is two shades DARKER than their hair rather then two shades LIGHTER. Great tips though! Now I’ll know how to better contour :)
Sona & Co,
What products will work for dry skin that suddenly got textured on the forehead? Hello 30! Luminous or glowy foundation really shows off that glorious new texture/breakouts but more matte products cling to dry spots. I’m at a loss, I’ve tried everything I own with beauty blender. Kabuki Bruhes and even finger tips! Any suggestions?
Brushes* ;)
Do you exfoliate often? Try that or maybe even a microdermabrasion. This will help with the texture. As for makeup, I would recommend more full coverage foundations and setting it with a setting powder and not a compact foundation powder. Hope this helps.
Hi Sona…Im new to you! So far I’m loving all the comments and your responses. I’m a 53 year old, mother of 3. I’m an avid athlete and would love to do some, I guess sports modeling. I’m also a personal trainer. Can i send you a pic..and perhaps get some forwarding advice from you? Thanks so much!!
Loved your post Sona! Quick question what primer do you suggest for oily skin?
This is really amazing! It is amazingly helpful, and I loved the chart that goes along.
I have a question though, but it’s regarding “skin care”, what would you recommend to use for a combination skin? Something that would be affordable/drug store, and helpful? Also,I was wondering how were the L’Oreal masks since you’ve tried them? #SnapFam
Stay tuned for a new post coming soon on product recommendations!
ohhhh I’m excited for this! <3
SONA! This is an amazing post and one of the reasons why you are my favorite beauty blogger- you share so much information and tips!!! So many just give opinions or show how-to’s which are great but I love to LEARN. I actually learned a few things I may have been doing wrong and will try them your way. I use a skinny brush for my crease and a fluffier brush for my lids however you did it opposite- I can’t wait to try that tomorrow morning! I love that you also have a list here, so helpful!! This is why you re so successful today, you share your knowledge. Some people are so scared to share information because it will make them irrelevant if they share all they have- instead its a sign of strength and integrity. anywayyyyy i love you and this post is amazing! my colleague who sits behind me feels like he knows you as well because of how often I watch your videos and look at your blog! haha #girlcrush #snapchatfam
Aww thanks so much Carla!! You’re a sweetheart!! :)
This chart was super easy and quick to follow … Especially for those of us who are limited for time but still want to get across all the tips … Thanks Sona! #snapchatfam
Heyy sona..loved this post of yours, very informative and lol i truly agree with you that i have seen people doing all what you did on the right side of your face and much worse..? Hope to see many more such videos and blog posts from your end #snapchatfam from india!?
Loved the checklist Sona – I actually tested myself on it (looks like I might need a lighter eyebrow product). Thanks
sorry – website posted incorrectly above.
Hi Sona,
I am one of your followers. I was wondering if you have picked the winner of the SonaGiveaway.

Hi Sona,
Great tips…Thank you!
I have been following you for a while now and I adore you! You are nice and easy going. I play your videos to all my friends, even my husband has seen them :).
Have learned a lot from you!!
Greetings from Mexico :)
Could you list which makeup brushes you used??
Thanks!
I just discovered you and love your tips! I’m going to check out your snapchat next.
I see my question was just asked…I think I’m very deficient in the brush department…can you please tell us what brushes you use?
Hi, loved the video and the chart :) What was the pencil you used for your DOs brow?
Thanks
Never mind! Found it!
LOVE your site and your advice. Love love. BUT you left out what eyebrow shades redheads should use :( I would love to see color advice for med red hair and brown eyes. thanks!!
What brand and shade of concealer did you use for the “correct” side?
Hi,
Love your videos!!
What kind of shade color did you use of the makeup forever hd foundation?
This was a post I missed !!! now I check it to get all those tips to avoid some of these typical mistakes we do sometimes!! helpful as always Sona! :) LOVE FROM BELGIUM!
Hi Sona,
This has been really helpful. I have been a big fan of yours. Could you help with the taupe bronzers out there, still a bit confused with the bronzer shade. I have dark skin which is pretty dry. Cheers from India!
I remember the days when I had no idea what the blending was :)))). It’s so funny right now because I don’t stop buying belnding brushes.
I love your blog posts, they are very useful.
Ps: Your blog is amazing!!!! I truly enjoy reading every single blog article!
XOXO, Ioana
If you don’t match your foundation to your neck what do we match it to?
This is my first time watching you and you were so helpful. I think you showing everyone the two sides was a very good idea. I think alot of people could see by you doing that what they don’t wantvto do. Or they are glad they are doing it right . I keep your blog by my side tomorrow for when i put my makeup on. Thanks for all the do’s and don’t. Thanks

Hi Sona!! Thank you for all the information.
What blush did you use on the do side?
I have large pores. What matte blush do you recommend?
Thank you.
Hello im from indonesia, this video is awesome. Thank u for sharing with us. Beautifull?????
I enjoyed the video’s and all the tips. I’m almost 50 yrs old. And absolutely love make-up. Just haven’t found anything for under my eyes yet. I do use the moisturiser before foundation. Still can’t get the caking effect to stop .. only from under eyes tho. Help!
I seek the the lightest possible weight, sheerest foundation I can find. Any recommendations you might offer would be welcomed with sincere thanks.
The bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel is amazing and very lightweight!
Great video!! Can you do a make up video or have suggestions for auburn red heads? It is so difficult to find colors that match with my light completion and my auburn hair!! Finding lipstick is a nightmare!! Please help!!

Sorry not sorry still going to do my brows black and continue to do fun makeup. Honestly there are no rules people. Have fun. You’re not here to just look pretty, interesting is way better. Thanks.
You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about !!!! You say to moisturize before applying foundation??? NEVER apply moisturizer to oily skin – you’re just putting oil on top of oil!!! Duh…..
You say never apply foundation to bare skin????? I’ve been doing it for years and my skin is absolutely glorious !!
But here’s the biggie – and every makeup “expert” says the same thing – i.e. Curl eyelashes before putting on mascara – – – oh right, right… and how do you make fine hairs curl ? You DON”T. You should put on mascara FIRST, and THEN curl them, being careful to open the curler slowly before removing it from your lashes.
Why don’t you advice-givers know this? This is just basic stuff !!!
Half of this advice is terrible, what the heck. If I matched my foundation to my “over all body tone” (which is like six different colors because i saw the sun once so what does that even mean,) instead of my chest/neck, my face wouldn’t match my neck and there would be a CLEAR line of awfulness.
Not everyone needs a color corrector. I o ly color correct my redness around my nose, everywhere else my concealer covers.
2 shades darker than my brunette roots IS black.
The sharp defined line of liquid liner is the WHOLE POINT OF WEARING IT. If you go for a natural look, cool good for you, but natural liner has never helped me feel like I’m going to kill all men and consume their souls, so what’s the point of wearing it.
Overall, stick to giving yourself advice, because this is just not true.
