Save the Day with these 7 Emergency Fashion Hacks

Tips
Emergency fashion hacks

How often have you gotten a new pair of shoes only to find out that they’re just a little bit too small or realized that your favorite sweater is covered in those fuzzy little pills? Of course its not the end of the world, but these little fashion emergencies can definitely put a damper on your day! Luckily, I’ve found a few emergency fashion hacks that can help!

emergency fashion hacks-fix a stuck zipper with a crayon

1. Use a graphite pencil or crayon to fix a stuck zipper.

This happens all too often! Whether it’s your fave hoodie or gorgeous leather purse, a stuck zipper is a pain. Just rub the graphite or crayon along the zipper teeth and zipper and wiggle gently until it comes free.

emergency fashion hacks- use a razor to remove pills from a sweater

2. Use a razor to remove fuzzy pills on a sweater.

Take a new, clean razor and gently “shave” your sweater and the pills will come right off! (You might have to clean the razor out a few times depending on the sweater!)

emergency fashion hacks-prevent blisters with deodorant

3. Rub deodorant on your feet to prevent blisters.

The deodorant acts as a lubricating barrier between your feet and shoes! Just put on deodorant where the shoes rub and you’re good to go, blister-free!

emergency fashion hacks-use clear nail polish to stop a run

4. Use clear nail polish to stop a run on tights.

Nothing ruins a cute fall outfit like a hole in your tights! To stop the tights from running or the hole from growing, use a little bit of clear nail polish along the edges.

emergency fashion hacks-use moleskin to fix a poking underwire

5. Use moleskin to fix a poking underwire.

When the underwire is poking out of your favorite bra and you’re not quite ready to give it up, cut a piece of moleskin and stick it over the end of the wire, securing it back to your bra.

emergency fashion hacks-use socks and a hair dryer to stretch shoes

6. Break in shoes with thick socks and a hair dryer.

Isn’t realizing that your new shoes are a little bit too small the worst?? To stretch them out, put on your thickest pair of socks and then put on the shoes. Blast the shoes with your hairdryer, then let them cool. Your shoes will be formed to your foot!

emergency fashion hacks-use a safety pin or paper clip to secure bra straps into a racerback

7. Use a safety pin or paperclip to make a racer back bra.

In a pinch, use either a safety pin or paper clip to bring together your bra straps so that they don’t show! (Make sure that you don’t puncture the straps with the safety pin!) You can also buy special bra clips, but these work well in a pinch!

I’ve used quite a few of these fashion hacks—they totally save the day! What’s your emergency fashion hack? Share them below with all of us.

So funny you came out with this post! Yesterday, I was wearing my favorite leggings and noticed I had pilling at the end of the day. I ended up googling on how to get rid of the pilling and found the exact hack with the razor! I can definitely agree to this hack working 100%! It really works!
For shoes that are too small, I always fill a bag with water and put it in my shoes and throw them in the freezer. After a while, the water starts to expand in the bag and helps those shoes to stretch out a bit.

That’s a great hack too! I’ll have to try that out!

Great hacks. I need to try hack number five because I have some cute Steve madden booties that fit me a little tight. I wasn’t aware that they run small.

I love the idea of using graphic crayon on stuck zipper , next time I’ll try that , I usually use candles ? And it always works like a charm. I also use Razor on sweaters and also sometimes on leggings? . I never tried the deodorant to avoid blisters.. will surely try that. Thanks Sona. Always love your blogposts. This is a great one.

Such a great post Sona ? I’ve always read about using the deodorant on our feet to avoid blisters but never really gave it a try! Definitely doing it now! I think the bra underwire hack is the best? I cannot even tell you the number of bras I’ve lost due to this or just removed the underwire out of frustration ? Thanks a ton doll? Much lovee❤️ Xoxo
