8 Concealer Hacks Every Girl Should Know

Beauty, makeup, Tips
nars concealer hacks

This year I’ve made it my goal to share more makeup tips and hacks with you! One of my favorite parts of being a makeup artist and beauty YouTuber is being able to experiment with makeup and find new, unconventional ways to use it. Today, I’m telling you all about my favorite concealer hacks! These tricks are all super easy—I use a lot of them in my everyday makeup routine! You can read about them below, or watch my video!

sona gasparian's concealer hacks

Concealer Hacks

HACK 1: Use concealer instead of primer on your eyes. Pat concealer across your eyelids using your ring finger to brighten your eyes and make your eyeshadows pop!

HACK 2: Highlight your browbone with concealer! Apply concealer with a small flat brush under your eyebrows to visually lift your eyes and make your eye makeup stand out.

HACK 3: Mix red lipstick and concealer to hide dark circles. Pick up some red lipstick with a brush and mix it with concealer on the back of your hand until you have a light salmon color. Apply under your eyes to color correct dark circles. Pat more concealer beneath your eyes to completely conceal and brighten!

HACK 4: Sharpen your cat eye by using a flat brush to clean up the line of your eyeliner. By using a lighter color, you also make the line pop!

HACK 5: Pinpoint conceal. Rather than use foundation to cover imperfections, use a small brush to apply concealer to problem areas and imperfections. (I like to do this after my foundation, so I don’t use too much product!)

HACK 6: Highlight and contour. Use a lightweight concealer in a lighter shade to highlight the center of your face and your cheekbones. In a darker shade, contour the hollows of your cheeks, the sides of your nose, and right under your hairline and jawline. Blend well, moving from the lighter to darker areas!

HACK 7: Neutralize your natural lip color. Apply lightweight concealer to your lips and blend, then use your favorite lipstick for a more pigmented look.

HACK 8: Clean up lipstick using concealer! Use a flat brush to apply concealer along the edges of your lips for a perfectly smooth line.

Love these hacks, Sona! These are great videos to watch. Can you talk a little more about how the NARS radiant creamy concealer compares to the soft matte concealer? Would you use the radiant creamy concealer for highlighting/contouring like in your video and the soft matte for everything else (covering dark circles, pinpoint concealing, etc.), or are they good for different skin types? I just bought the radiant creamy concealer and now am wondering if I should get the soft matte complete concealer instead!!! Thanks for all your videos and tips!

    • ReplyJennifer TibbittsFebruary 9, 2017 at 10:52 am

I was having these exact same thoughts!

      • ReplySonaFebruary 14, 2017 at 3:12 pm

They’re both good for all skin types! I use the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer for more lightweight coverage. It’s a great everyday concealer! The Nars Soft Matte Concealer has a thicker consistency that give you more coverage!

  • ReplyZzina_XoFebruary 9, 2017 at 10:29 am

You can also hide your eyebrows hair if you don’t tweeze them not only highlighting browbone ,plz can you do fondation hacks for oily skin!! And thank you ??? #snapchatfam

    • ReplyDamaris GonzalezFebruary 13, 2017 at 7:21 am

great idea! Im letting my brows grow out so that’s a great way to hide that.

  • ReplyJennifer TibbittsFebruary 9, 2017 at 10:53 am

What a great video/blog post! I definitely want to pick up some NARS concealers when I run out of what I’m currently using.

I know this goes without saying, but damn, girl, you got some serious skills!

    Great video and post!

  • ReplyEwelinaFebruary 9, 2017 at 1:35 pm

Nice tips! Hack #1 is the thing I always do, who needs a primer if you have concealer? :) I have always wanted to try hack #3, because I have huge dark circles, but I’m a little afraid that something goes wrong and I’ll end up looking crazy ;) Maybe someday I’ll be brave enough :)
    Hugs! #snapchatfam

I think you always talk about these tricks when the time comes in your videos ? But, it is nice to see them all together in a post ? Love ❤️ #snapchatfam

  • ReplySaira MartinezFebruary 9, 2017 at 3:25 pm

I loved this Sona! Didn’t know you could use concealer for so many things lol. My fav hack has to be using concealer as eye lid primer, so much easier and faster as well.

    • ReplySonaFebruary 14, 2017 at 3:13 pm

I totally agree!! I use this hack all the time!

  • ReplyJeanette TinocoFebruary 9, 2017 at 3:45 pm

Great hacks. They all seem super useful and effective. I like the mixing the lipstick and concealer for dark circles, I will be trying that out tomorrow. Great post.

  • ReplyAlejandra OrdazFebruary 9, 2017 at 3:49 pm

Gurlllll, I need all the hacks I can get! I have really dark eye circles from all my late night study seasions and watching YouTube videos :) I also use my concealer on my eyelids and pretty much my entire eye region, especially my inner eye area and I set it with Laura mercier secret eye brightener powder. This allows my eye shadows to look a lot nicer and true to color :)

Super easy and helpful. Thanks for the amazing hacks. :)
My fav hack is to use bronzer as my transition shade for eyes & using pink lipstick as a blush. ;)

  • ReplyKhuluodFebruary 10, 2017 at 7:13 am

Wow I never really thought of mixing red lipstick with concealer to use as a corrector! That’s so smart Sona! I always learn something new from you so thank you so much!!! (Now I can save £20 by not buying more mac studio correct duo) xxx

My favorite thing about, Sona is that she posts videos AND writes about them on the blog so if I am at work and cant watch the video, I can read about it. You put so much work into your posts and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate it. I have learned so much from you. I know I don’t post enough on the blog (really wish I could), but just wanted to stop in and say that. *snapchat fam* *twitter fam* everything fam :)

Love all these hacks ! I use most of them every time I wear makeup ? I have oily skin , so would the Soft Matte Complete Concealer be a better buy for me instead of the Radiant Creamy Concealer ? #snapchatfam

  • ReplyErin S.March 2, 2017 at 3:31 pm

Sona, thank you so much for the hack that involves mixing concealer with red lipstick to cover undereye circles! I have tried just about everything to conceal the circles I have due to allergies, and this trick is the ONLY thing that actually works! (To say I’m thrilled would be a dire understatement.) THANK YOU!

  • ReplyBarbaraMarch 2, 2017 at 10:26 pm

Great tips. I do #2 but want to try the others and the Nars concealer. #snapchatfam
