Is it just me or did Spring fly by? Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of Summer, and I am so excited to share some Summer-ready beauty products in this month’s edition of Sona Selects! In case you’re new to the blog, Sona Selects is my roundup of the best in beauty from the past month, including new makeup releases and old products that I love! I’ve also decided to start a video series to go with each edition of Sona Selects, called Sona Selects and Rejects! The video for this blogpost will be up tomorrow on my channel!
1. Clarins Sunscreen Multi-Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($43)
I wear this Clarins Sunscreen Multi-Protection every single day. Whether I’m going to be in the sun or not, I layer this Clarins sunscreen over my moisturizer and under my foundation. It’s lightweight, non-greasy and doesn’t leave a white residue. It works really well under makeup, since it doesn’t cover your skin in a greasy film like a lot of sunscreens that I’ve used before. But most importantly, this sunscreen offers broad spectrum SPF (from both UVA and UVB rays) as well as protection from air pollution.
2. Marc Jacobs Limited Edition O!Mega Bronze Coconut Perfect Tan ($49)
Ever since I received this Marc Jacobs Coconut O!Mega Bronzer, I have been absolutely obsessed with it! (You’ve probably seen it here and here) It has the prettiest matte finish and a fine powdered formula that blends smoothly on your skin. I also love how flattering the color is—it would look amazing on so many different skin tones! This bronzer honestly might be one of my favorites ever, and since it’s so big it will last a long time!
3. Makeup Forever Brow Gel ($20)
I love using brow gel to tint and shape my brows, but I never want my brows to feel heavy or over gelled. This Makeup Forever Brow Gel does an amazing job of holding my brows in place and giving them a nice tint with an incredibly lightweight formula. The brush is on the larger side, but I’ve found that using the tip of the brush and lightly angling it works well. I also love that you can really get every last bit of product in there, since it’s in a squeeze tube!
4. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in 13 Le Orange ($37)
I love a good orangey red lipstick for summer! The YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in 13 Le Orange is one of the best I’ve found yet! It’s bright and will give you a beautiful pop of color, but is surprisingly flattering. It has a satin finish and a moisturizing formula that feels really soft and hydrating. Plus, the packaging is absolutely gorgeous!
5. Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Whiskey ($26)
Okay, so I know that summer usually calls for bright colors, but I have to admit that I love the contrast between a fresh, pretty outfit and a dark lipstick. This Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Whiskey is a creamy, lightweight lipstick that feels fresh and clean but has a high impact, moody shade. It has lots of moisturizing essential oils that help to hydrate your lips. How amazing would this lipstick look paired with a white dress and sandals?
6. Kat Von D. Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Ophelia ($20)
I’m actually wearing this Kat Von D. Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in my Sona Selects and Rejects video! The formula feels super creamy when you put it on, but it dries to a matte finish. It feels super lightweight on your lips, but I will admit that it can be a little bit drying so I like to top it off with a layer of lipgloss or balm.
7. The Body Shop Almond Milk and Honey Soothing & Restoring Body Butter ($15)
If you have sensitive, dry skin, this Almond and Honey Soothing and Restoring Body Butter from The Body Shop is amazing! I think it’s best to use after you shower or before your go to bed, since it’s such a rich, creamy formula. It’s lightly scented and even though it’s super moisturizing thanks to almond milk, honey, and almond seed oil, it doesn’t feel greasy. (P.S. This is on sale now at Ulta, for $15 instead of $21!)
8. L’Oreal Root Cover Up ($10)
Okay, so you know when it’s about time for a root touch up, but you have a few days left until your appointment? That’s when this L’Oreal Root Cover Up Temporary Concealer Spray comes in! It covers grays in just a few seconds and will hold you over until your next hair appointment!
As a new part of this series, I’ll be talking about products that I wasn’t a fan of in each video! I have to say that just because a product didn’t work for me, that doesn’t mean that it also won’t for you or that you shouldn’t love it. I just want to share my honest opinion of these products with you all. Watch the video tomorrow to find out what products I didn’t love this month!
I hope you enjoyed this month’s edition of the Sona Selects! What’s your go-to beauty product this month?
