Sona Selects Drugstore Edition

Beauty, makeup, sona selects
Sona Selects Drugstore Edition

Can you believe it’s already August? The summer is flying by so fast! This month’s edition of Sona Selects is featuring all drugstore products and I’m so excited to share my picks with you guys! I’ve been using tons of affordable makeup lately, especially since Drugstore Makeup Week. I had such an amazing response to that series and I am so happy you guys enjoyed it! This past month the office was so hectic with filming all of those videos for you guys. We kept having to turn off the air conditioners so that it would be quiet when I was filming and were practically melting in the summer heat, but it was totally worth it! ;) If you haven’t seen those videos on my channel, I linked the playlist below for you to check out. Also if you’re a new reader on the blog, Sona Selects is a collection of the best beauty products I’ve used in the past month. Whether the products are old or new, they are the ones I can’t stop returning to! If you want to see these products in action, make sure to check out the Drugstore Makeup Week playlist on my channel. I put together so many beautiful looks for you guys to recreate, and the best part is you can find all the products at your nearest drugstore! Every product in this post is also a high-end dupe! So if you’ve been thinking about splurging, you might want to hold off on ordering that $70 foundation until you’re done reading this post.

sona selects beauty products

1. L’oreal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup ($12.99)

This foundation seriously reminds me so much of the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, it’s definitely a solid drugstore dupe! It’s only $12.99 versus the Armani foundation that’s $64. This product is super lightweight and has light to medium coverage. It feels so silky smooth and natural because the product is 40% water, which is so hydrating. For someone with dry skin like me, that’s a huge benefit! It also is infused with vitamins C and E that help improve the clarity and tone of your skin. I have the shade Sun Beige (W6) and it matches my skin perfectly when I have a tan! Overall I’d say this is one of the best foundations sold at the drugstore.

2. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer ($8.99)

The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer is by far one of my favorite concealers. It’s a great dupe for Tarte’s Shape Tape, and it’s less than half the price! It’s definitely full coverage which makes it amazing for hiding dark circles. I have the shade ‘Neutralizer’, which conceals and brightens. It’s perfect if you’re rushing to get ready because it’s basically a two in one product. This one is a total must have!

3. NYX Wonder Stick ($11.99)

The NYX Wonder Stick is literally a perfect dupe for the new KKW Beauty Contour Sticks! It’s so creamy and blendable, which makes it very easy to work with. I have the shade ‘Deep’ and it’s seriously perfect for defining and getting the glowy bronzed Kardashian look everyone’s obsessed with, including myself! If you’re a beginner at cream contouring, I would totally check out this product next time you’re at the drugstore.

4. Cover Girl Professional Loose Powder ($6.49)

A good quality loose powder is seriously one of the hardest products to find at the drugstore. I was blown away by the Cover Girl Profession Loose Powder when I first tried it during Drugstore Makeup Week! This powder is great for setting foundation and keeping it locked in place all day. It really reminds me of the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder because it’s so finely milled. This powder is such a great drugstore product that feels luxurious and lightweight on the skin, which is amazing because it’s so affordable!

5. Flower Beauty Flower Pots Powder Blush ($8.98)

Another product that I was very impressed with is the Flower Pots Powder Blush in the shade Warm Hibiscus. This is actually such a great dupe for the NARS Blush in the shade Orgasm. So if you can’t seem to spend $30 on the NARS one I would definitely order this blush right away! The color is flattering on many skin tones, it also has very fine shimmer that doesn’t accentuate your pores, and adds the prettiest glow!

6. Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter ($9.99)

You guys know how obsessed I am with Maybelline products, so I couldn’t leave out this highlighter! The Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter is for sure one of the best highlighters I’ve ever tried from the drugstore. The application is light, but you can easily layer the product to build the intensity you want. Although I do love this product it is a tad bit flaky and can break easily, so make sure to keep that in mind when tossing it into your makeup bag. I have the shade Molten Gold which is very similar to Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal. Again, if you’re looking to save some cash I would look into purchasing this Maybelline highlighter.

7. e.l.f. Instant Lift Brow Pencil ($1.99)

Eyebrow pencils are another makeup item that in my opinion are hard to find at the drugstore. More times than not, drugstore brow products tend to be more warm toned. Against my skin tone, it can look too orange for my liking. I was so impressed when I decided to try the e.l.f. Instant Lift Brow Pencil upon my subbies recommendation! I have the shade Taupe and I ordered mine from Amazon and I was not disappointed. This product reminds me so much of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, but it’s so much cheaper! I’m definitely going to be repurchasing this product because it’s affordable and I think just as good as the Brow Wiz. This product is a serious must have!

8. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss ($8.49)

During Drugstore Makeup Week, I used this gloss in two different videos and was so happy with the product! This lipgloss is not sticky at all and is such a beautiful shade! I have the color Sandstorm, and it has the most gorgeous subtle shimmer that makes your lips look so plump and glossy! This lipgloss is so comfortable on the lips and is a great dupe for the Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipglosses. The formula is so smooth and creamy because it contains vitamin E and avocado oil that really nourish the lips. If you’ve been turned off by most drugstore lip glosses, you should for sure give this one a try!

That’s it for this months Sona Selects Drugstore Edition! I hope you guys found this helpful and maybe discovered a dupe for a high end product you’ve been dying to try. What’s your favorite drugstore product you can’t live without?

I’d love to try the NYX Wonder Stick. Would it work for pale skin tones? Some contour product are too orange on me.

The LUMI is my favorite! I bought it while I was in the US, but they don’t seem to have it in Spain. I wonder if they just commecialize it with a different name

    Hi Sona!
How is it possible I’m the only one who doesn’t like the maybelline concealer? It creases so badly on me! Do you have any tips for that?
    Love, Mimi

Make sure you always set it with a good powder and using a lighter hand with the concealer might help too! :) xo

I love When you talk about drugstore because I’m a unistudent sooo … but despite of that I love your high end rewievs too? Enjoy your posts all the time . You talked about your acne struggles in your last grwm and a few month ago my face turned to a acne battlefield. Dairy is an issue for me too. But its so hard to give up on ? Btw today I ordered the identity palett and I’m Soo excited for that ❤️ Love from Hungary ?

  • ReplyShubam SharmaAugust 13, 2017 at 9:05 pm

Thank you so much for your recommendations, Sona! I can always trust your suggestions and I’m especially excited to try the Elf eyebrow pencil! I ran out of my brow wiz a month ago, and guess what I’ve been using instead? The shade Fearless from the Identity palette! LOL! It honestly works so good as a brow powder for me, it blends super easily and doesn’t look unnatural, and it’s just the perfect color for my brows! I can build it up if I want to as well for a thicker brow. Honestly, I haven’t felt the need to buy an eyebrow product since Fearless has been doing an amazing job hahaha! But, I will check out the Elf brow pencil too! ;) #snapfam
