4 easy tips for your best sleep ever

Lifestyle
Beauty sleep tips

Full disclosure, I have no problems falling asleep at night. I think I really owe it to my nightly routine, which has become so natural to me over the years. There are a few things I find myself doing almost every night that help me get a really restful sleep. From my no phone in the bedroom policy to my favorite tea, these are the 4 tips and tricks I swear by for the best sleep ever.

Beauty sleep, anyone?

1. DITCH THE PHONE

Seriously, DON’T even bring your phone in the bedroom. My no phone in the bedroom policy is something I’m super serious about. That means no falling asleep scrolling through my Instagram feed and no answering emails in bed. I could totally rant about all the studies that link phone usage at night to poor quality of sleep, but I think you guys get the picture. Since my phone sleeps in the living room, I use a good old fashioned alarm clock to wake me up in the morning. I know, SHOCKER. I think I’m going to order this one ASAP, but I’ve also linked some other cute ones below!

2. HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE

There are two things that I keep on my night stand to keep my skin hydrated at night. One is my Aquapfor lip balm. You guys have probably seen me talk about this drugstore lip balm before, but I’m literally obsessed. I apply it to my lips, my cuticles and to the area around my nose whenever it’s dry. If I’m in a luxurious mood, I’ll reach for my Dior rose lip balm. It’s so hydrating! I also keep my Fresh body cream next to my bed and apply it to my chronic dry hands! For more tips for hydrated skin, watch my nighttime skincare routine here!

3. GET IN RELAXATION MODE

Over the years, I’ve noticed a few things that really help me relax at night. I love brewing a cup of chamomile tea and sipping on it in bed. It puts me in total relaxation mode especially when it’s chilly out. Another beauty sleep tip I have is investing in a pair of super comfortable pajamas. I’m a big believer that when you go to bed looking your best, you wake up feeling your best! By now I’m probably knocked out, but if I do need some help snoozing, I usually pick up a good book (no, not an ipad or kindle!) Right now I’m reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and I’m looooving it. See a few of my other faves I keep on my nightstand linked below!

4. FIND YOUR SCENT

essential oils for sleep

I can’t even tell you how many candles I have around the house. I’m mildly obsessed. Right now I have the Fresh Cannabis Santal candle next to my bed. I love this candle because it’s super relaxing and not too flowery to light before bed. I also use a clary sage essential oil roller a couple of times a week to help me de-stress after a long day. Clary sage has so many benefits that help promote restful beauty sleep like alleviating stress and helping with anxiety! Plus, it smells so good!

Sleep is sooo important for your health, your mood and your overall happiness. When I don’t get a good night’s sleep, my mood and my productivity definitely suffer. Having an organized nightstand with all my favorite products handy and sticking to my night ritual has really worked for me. I hope these tips help you guys get that beauty sleep you guys deserve!

What are your favorite tips for getting a good night’s sleep? ?

      • ReplyNeyhaFebruary 6, 2018 at 5:24 pm

I think the going without my phone is the hardest. As humans that are so use to technology and the convenience of it we tend to get caught up in all of the excitement on the web. So that’s a challenge I’ve yet to overcome but as far as everything else goes I’m loving how relaxed and stress free I feel!

  • ReplySaralrb2602February 2, 2018 at 2:57 pm

I almost have the same routine except the phone and the alarm cause I don’t support to wake up with loud sound so I put my alarm on my phone in vibration and it’s enough to wake me up cause I wake up easily with any sound. And lighter it is better it is for me.

  • ReplyMonicaFebruary 2, 2018 at 2:59 pm

You’re pjs are so cute.. I love adding some essential oil to a small humidifier and that helps me sleep so well.. I almost do it every other day and sleep like a baby.. try it and you’ll love it.. I really need to disconnect before I sleep which is hard for me.. I’ll order an alarm clock and start charging my phone in the living room and see if that works for me too..?

    • ReplySimplySonaFebruary 5, 2018 at 10:54 am

      Yes Monica! Love your routine.

  • ReplyCindyFebruary 2, 2018 at 3:28 pm

I definitely need to start the no phone rule. I have a terrible habit of going to bed with headphones on and I’m on my phone even when my husband has knock out for the night. I also need to keep a lip balm and hand cream on my night stand. It’s my first time living in the cold east coast and my body desperately needs hydration. Thanks for the tips.

    • ReplySimplySonaFebruary 5, 2018 at 10:55 am

You’ll feel such a huge difference when you go with no phone! It might be hard at first but you can do it :)

  • ReplyAyeshehFebruary 2, 2018 at 3:43 pm

So I find no eating late like I try not to eat after 7 pm I know this sounds silly but I remember Oprah had said ur digestive system is processing your food and stuff so try not to eat anytime after 7!!! Also I have white noise that always helps me fall asleep! I actually love this post! I started using a diffuser too so the scents definitely help as well :)

    • ReplySimplySonaFebruary 5, 2018 at 10:55 am

Good scents when you sleep are the best.

  • ReplyLouise Sharpy.February 2, 2018 at 4:42 pm

I love essential oils. I use bergamot, lavender , and sometimes frakensense!! I’m a believer with that a diffuser. I live in Az , it’s always dry. I have even put lavender on my pillow …hmmmm I love this article and your blogs …and you. Thanks for all this info. #24minclub

Those super cute alarm clocks are motivation for me to keep the phone away at bedtime!
Hmm also make great gifts for friends.

    • ReplySimplySonaFebruary 5, 2018 at 10:56 am

      Right!? You can do both!

  • ReplyDenaFebruary 2, 2018 at 6:01 pm

I know you are right about the phone but I can’t go to bed without mine! I have no problems sleeping though. I get in bed pretty early to relax and look at my iPad so it’s kind of the same as the phone. I use the Aquaphor lip balm too!

  • ReplyGaby MFebruary 2, 2018 at 6:18 pm

This are great tips Sona, I made personally guilty of using my phone in bed. Other that I do practice some relaxation methods to help me sleep better at night. I love to drink tea while a watch my favorite tv show which watching tv before sleep is definitely not recommended. I also like to practice some relaxation breathing or I listen to some relaxation music ?. Both work amazing. #24hrclub #snapchatfam #instafam

    • ReplySimplySonaFebruary 5, 2018 at 10:57 am

      Music helps too!

  • ReplySumbul AmirFebruary 2, 2018 at 6:25 pm

This is a must needed post for me. Especially these days. When I’m having something going on my head I can’t get over, it didn’t let me sleep. This is happening me with me from previous two three weeks when I had a fight with one of my friend. Actually there wasn’t a fault of mine so I was so upset. Finally we resolved the issue, so somehow I’m getting back to my sleep routine but not much.
Gonna try these tips. I love the hydrated one and favourite scent cause I think it really changes our mood and lead us to a pleasant sleep.

    • ReplySimplySonaFebruary 5, 2018 at 10:59 am

      Tea is amazing before bed!

  • ReplySarahFebruary 3, 2018 at 4:08 am

It may sound weird ? but what I think helps me get a good night sleep is a face massage. I always moisturise but i also massage some olie oil into my skin. Not only does it make me feel sleepy, it also helps reduce my acne scars ❤️ Im guilty for being on my phone before sleep though ??

    • ReplySimplySonaFebruary 5, 2018 at 11:00 am

      That sounds so relaxing!

  • ReplyJahiraFebruary 3, 2018 at 4:48 am

Dear Sona thankyou for sharing these lovely tips. You are actually correct about the no device in the bedroom, I am considering it. I will seek out a real alarm clock thanks!

Let me know how it works love, you can do it!

  • ReplySafia QammarFebruary 3, 2018 at 9:59 am

These are absolutely holy grail tips. ? Putting phone aside is most important as holding a cell is enough for sleepless night.
I always put some coconut oil to my lips, hands before going to bed, it nourishes my skin so beautifully. ❤ #snapfam

I agree sleeping with the phone next to you is the worst! I usually don’t sleep with oh but I have bought a long shirt and it is so comfortable and fall asleep instantly! Great tips thank you!

  • ReplyCristineFebruary 3, 2018 at 10:57 am

These are great tips! I always ditch my phone too, I leave it charging at the other side of my room. I also use an essential oil diffuser I feel like that has helped me the most!!

    • ReplySimplySonaFebruary 5, 2018 at 10:52 am

I will try to put my phone away, but i know it will be hard. I love chamomile tea. I also like mountain tea, its a traditional Albanian/Greek tea. It has a great taste and great health benefits. You should try it its very similar in taste to chamomile. Love the post! great ideas.

    • ReplySimplySonaFebruary 5, 2018 at 10:50 am

      So happy you liked it!

  • ReplyCarla ChavezFebruary 5, 2018 at 7:42 pm

Ditching the phone is so important but so hard to do! I remember during one my biology courses in college my professor going over how important it is to detach from electronics (like listening to music) in order to fully go through all the sleep cycles during REM. And whenever I catch myself on the phone at night, I have to remind myself of that lol. And you just reminded me of it now.

Thank you for sharing your tips Sona!

    • ReplySimplySonaFebruary 7, 2018 at 2:29 pm

Thanks for the love babe. Sometimes we just need a good reminder for no phones, it can be easy to forget sometimes!

[…] A little bit of highlighter around the eyes can really go a long way in bringing your glow full circle. Adding some shimmer to the inner corners of your eyes, the middle of your eyelids, and the brow bone will instantly brighten up the whole eye area and make you look younger and more awake.
