Meet the Boss Babes From the Founders Club

Lifestyle

What happens when all your friends are killing it in the beauty industry? You grab a bottle of rosé and start a club! Meet the Founders Club, a group of female founders of beauty brands who get together every month to discuss the highs and lows of our companies and share tips and tricks for finding success. The Founders Club is a place where we leave the idea of competition at the door and focus on transparency and collaboration. From social marketing to business development, we get real about what’s going on behind the scenes of our businesses. Every month, we take turns hosting at our homes for a fun night of supporting each other on our beauty ventures!

Ps. I asked each of these boss babes a question I hope will inspire you guys to go after your entrepreneurial dreams: What do you wish you knew before you started your brand? Keep on reading to see their answers!

MEET THE FOUNDERS:

FOUNDER OF:

@Lawless

ABOUT ANNIE:

From founder of organic cold-pressed juice company Suja to founder of Lawless Beauty, Annie is dedicated to bringing natural, high-end makeup to the beauty industry. Lawless currently has 8 natural, soft matte liquid lipsticks, ranging from pink nudes to deep reds.

WORD OF ADVICE:

“Things are going to go wrong and there will be many unexpected problems that arise. Know that this is normal and every startup has unforeseeable issues. Keep going and do not be discouraged by these bumps in the road. It is supposed to be hard. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it!”

FOUNDERS OF:

@SummerFridays

ABOUT LAUREN & MARIANNA:

Using their mutual love for self-care and beauty, Lauren and Marianna co-founded their skincare line Summer Fridays. The blogger duo used their expertise in the beauty industry to create their first product— The Jet Lag Mask, aka everything they finally  wanted in a face mask!

WORD OF ADVICE:

Lauren: “Don’t be afraid to change your mind if something feels like it should go in a new direction— whether it’s choosing a new packaging color, a new name, a new product or expanding your team. Change fuels growth and you have to make room for that growth to happen.”

Marianna: “Everything takes longer than you think it will, so just be patient and don’t rush the process.”

FOUNDER OF:

@DoseofColors

ABOUT ANNA:

Anna went from freelance makeup artist of over 10 years to founder of her very own makeup brand, Dose of Colors. With a dedicated following on Instagram, Anna created a cruelty-free line of highly pigmented lip, eye and face products

WORD OF ADVICE:

“Possibilities are endless! Follow your dreams and surround yourself with positive people who believe in you. Take your time, don’t rush and be patient. It will all be worth it in the end.”

FOUNDER OF:

@PersonaCosmetics

ABOUT SONA:

As a professional makeup artist and a YouTuber/blogger with over 10 years of makeup experience, I combined my knowledge of the beauty industry with the voice of my audience to create my very own makeup line, Pérsona Cosmetics. With a goal of shaping the new wave of beauty, I created the Identity Palette, the first eyeshadow palette specifically designed to enhance brown eyes. Right now, I’m super focused on developing new products, from my latest launch of the CaliGlow highlighters, to some very exciting new products coming in Summer 2018!

WORD OF ADVICE:

“Don’t wait for the perfect moment. It’s never going to be the ‘right’ time. You just have to start and the rest will come.”

FOUNDER OF:

@LillyLashes

ABOUT LILLY:

Get to know Lilly—attorney, entrepreneur, cosmetic creator, fashion designer and blogger. With her own brand of luxury lashes, hair extensions and hair vitamins, it’s no secret that Lilly knows her beauty!

WORD OF ADVICE:

“There’s enough success for everyone—Remember there are 8 billion people on Earth. Don’t worry about competitors or be discouraged by big brands’ presence. Focus on growing your brand one day at a time. Be happy for other’s success and always remember no matter how much competition there is— don’t give up. There’s enough success for you all!”

FOUNDER OF:

@TheBlessBox

ABOUT SAZAN:

As a fashion and beauty influencer, Sazan is no stranger to reviewing products and so she created Bless Box. Every month Sazan curates all her favorite fashion, health, beauty and lifestyle items for the box’s subscribers.

WORD OF ADVICE:

“Take your time and don’t feel like you have to rush the process. Keep the hustle and the drive persistent, but give yourself patience in the areas that will come naturally as you grow and evolve.”

FOUNDER OF:

@LiveTinted

ABOUT DEEPICA:

Meet Deepica, beauty vlogger and now founder of Tinted, a digital community for people who have historically been underrepresented by the beauty industry. As the tinted community grows, Deepica hopes to expand into products, but for now is focused on continuing the conversation of inclusivity for all in the beauty world.

WORD OF ADVICE:

“Stop worrying about perfection— it’s an impossible and silly standard to focus on.”

FOUNDER OF:

@DominiqueCosmetics

ABOUT CHRISTEN:

Beauty vlogger turned entrepreneur, Christen launched her makeup line with an eyeshadow palette inspired by her coffee obsession—the Latte Palette.

WORD OF ADVICE:

“Mistakes and imperfections make the best ideas. Have patience and always remember why you’re doing what you’re doing and you’ll have success no matter what.”

FOUNDER’S CLUB FAVES

HOW TO START YOUR OWN CLUB

Ready to start your own club, but don’t know where to start? Whether you’re a foodie with a tasty-looking feed or a new fashion blogger, finding a group of like-minded people to share your journey is so so beneficial. Sure, it may look like a competitive world out there battling for likes and views and partnerships, but I promise you once you trade competition for collaboration, your experience will be so much better. Here are some tips I have for forming your own club!

  1. Use Instagram to your advantage. Follow people who share your interests and your vibe! Don’t be afraid to reach out or DM them to meet up for coffee and get that creativity flowing. You’d be surprised how friendly and open people are to collaborate and share their experiences with you.
  2. Research events in your industry and GO (even if it’s alone!) There are tons of events you can go to even if you’re not a big influencer. From store pop-ups to gallery openings to meet ups hosted by other influencers, get out there and talk to people who like the things you like!
  3. Stay connected. Don’t stop with just one convo or one coffee date. Make the effort to meet up again and continue to show them love on the ‘gram!
  4. Host a meet up. Once you find a cool group of people with similar interests, invite them all to get together, share ideas and get to know each other.

What kinds of clubs are you interested in? Would you start one? Let me know in the comments below!

    I love seeing a post like this. I just started my YouTube channel last week, and I know the industry is flooded with wonderful artists, but I am determined to work hard to leave my mark on the industry and learn more and more everyday. My videos aren’t great yet, but I’m so proud that I’ve even taken the steps to film and upload instead of just talking about it. You have been an inspiration to me and I hope to be as much of a positive influence on people as you are.

    My dream is to create my own makeup brand one day. Hearing these things drives me even more to know that one day I will fulfill my dreams. I’m going to work hard for years and hopefully something will come of it.

    Thank you for inspiring me. ?

    • ReplySimplySonaMay 15, 2018 at 12:02 pm

    I have been browsing online more than 10 hours
    today for painting jobs calgary & Meet the Boss Babes From the
    Founders Club, yet I never found any interesting article like yours.

    It is pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all site owners and
    bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will
    be a lot more useful than ever before.
