Every month I say the same thing, but wow, May flew by! It’s been a very busy last couple of weeks, so I’ve been setting aside extra time for my self-care routine. I cannot stress how important it is to take care of your body, both physically and mentally. Whether it’s putting on a face mask, doing yoga or disconnecting with a good book, nothing makes me feel more refreshed and relaxed than a little self-care. So for this month’s Sona Selects, I put together all my current self-care faves!
By now you guys know I love face masks. When I’m breaking out or when my skin needs some extra TLC, I like to use a clay mask. Right now, I’m using the OLEHENRIKSEN Cold Plunge Mask (see why I love it here). After I use a clay mask, I like using a hydrating mask, like the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask, to return the moisture to my skin. For the ultimate self-care relax mode, I ditch my phone, sip some tea and pick up a good book!
SERUMS & CREAMS
When it comes to looking and feeling your best, nothing beats catching some zzz’s. Most of my self-care happens at night, when I have the extra time to focus one ME. I like to make my beauty sleep count by using the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Serum and my new favorite La Mer Cool Gel Cream. Taking the extra time to pamper yourself feels totally worth it when you wake up with glowing skin!
I mean is there anything that puts you in a better mood than a good scent? I have sooo many candles at home, but my all time favorite is the Fresh Cannabis Santal candle. It makes me feel so relaxed and at ease. And speaking of scents, I also recommend finding a perfume you love. I don’t like super feminine or fruity scents. I like very fresh, light and clean fragrances like the Byredo Gypsy Water.
Another important part of my self-care routine, is my surroundings. I love to wear a pretty robe because it makes the whole experience feel more luxurious. On Sundays, you can probably find me cozied up in a corner of my apartment with a soft blanket, a good book and a cup of soothing tea (chamomile is my favorite). If you guys are looking for a good book to read, I definitely recommend Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. This book has tons of tips for organizing and decluttering your life!

Self-care may be #trending on social media, but it’s much more than just a trend. Spending time taking care of yourself physically, mentally and emotionally is so so important. And as much as we have going on, stepping away from everything going on to relax and recharge will do wonders on our bodies and minds!
